How to Clean Grout Lines on Gilbert Ceramic Tile Floors

How to Clean Grout Lines on Gilbert Ceramic Tile Floors

Ceramic tile floors are not only beautiful; they are also durable. They stand up to a great amount of foot traffic without scratching, scuffing or chipping. They also withstand extreme heat and cold, making them ideal for homes and businesses throughout Gilbert Arizona, where the summers can be punishing.

Cleaning ceramic tile floors in a Gilbert home is usually a very easy process. You just run a broom and a mop over them periodically to keep them free of dust and grime, and you’re all set. However, over time, dirt, oil, and other liquids can seep into the grout lines between the tile, creating unsightly discolorations. Your beautiful ceramic floors can turn into a grungy checkerboard that makes the whole room look dirty and dull.

Grout cleaning is an important part of ceramic tile cleaning that can help you restore the beauty of the floors and protect your investment. You can easily clean the grout lines on your ceramic floors with products you may already have at home or specialty cleaners you can buy from any home improvement store.

Grout Cleaners

You don’t have to buy specialty grout cleaning to get your floors sparkling. You can make a simple paste out of equal parts baking and soda and water. Just let the paste site on your floors overnight and scrub it off with a nylon brush the next day. If you’re really hardcore, you can use an old toothbrush to really get in there.

If you need a little more umph, you can add lemon juice and vinegar to your paste. With this mixture, you need four cups of water, ¼ cup each of baking soda and lemon juice, and ½ cup of vinegar (white, not the fancy salad dressing varieties). This mixture will treat tougher stains and will work more quickly. Just sprinkle it on the grout lines and scrub clean with your brush.

Finally, if you have really set-in stains, you can use oxygen bleach for your grout cleaning. You can buy this from a home improvement store. Just mix it with water and let it sit on the grout lines for a minimum of 30 minutes. The longer you let it soak, the more effective it will be. Scrub it clean with your brush, then rinse.

When you are done with your Gilbert ceramic grout cleaning, be sure to apply a sealer to prevent future stains from setting in the grout.
